Mount Totumas

We will pick you up at your hotel in Chiriqui or at the David Domestic Airport  at the time of your arrival from Panama City. Start a scenic road trip through the highlands to the west of Volcano Baru, where you will have lunch at a local gourmet restaurant. After lunch you continue your journey to Mount Totumas in a 4 X 4.  Our local guide will take you for 20 kilometers from the town of Volcan in a rough mountain road to reach the ecolodge.  Admire the views from road and keep your eyes out for wildlife. Upon arrival you will learn about the lodge and go for a short afternoon hike to get oriented with the reserve. (L, D)

Mount Totumas

Wake up to the sounds of nature and enjoy your days with hiking adventures and superb birdwatching. Join a tour of your choice to one of the 8 marked trails through the reserve with access into the adjacent national park, which is Central America’s largest protected mountain wilderness area. Look out for keystone species such as Resplendent Quetzals, Three Wattled Bellbirds, Mantled Howler Monkey, Black and Crested Guan, White-Faced Capuchin, spider monkeys, mountain lions amongst many more. Optional tour: Finca Ceriana

Join a visit to the Finca Ceriana, the farm forms part of a privately protected area for the conservation of flora and fauna in the region. Keep on the look out for a number of bird species and other animals and get on trails to volcano lagoons and canopy towers. Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch while admiring one of the most beautiful views to Costa Rica’s Golfo Dulce and Osa peninsula in Panama before continuing your journey or getting on an afternoon flight from David back to Panama City. (B, L)
