Volunteer Service Experience in Azuero

During your time in Pedasí, you will engage with a variety of conservation projects, organic farming, reforestation and nursery management, and other community related activities. In the organic garden and tree nursery of the Azuero Earth Project (www.azueroearthproject.org), volunteers will learn how to make organic compost, pesticides, and fertilizers, plant seeds, harvest traditional crops, and construct garden structures. Depending on the time of year, volunteers will adventure out into farms and the forests of Azuero to collect seeds of native tree species, germinate these seeds in the nursery, and plant seedlings in the field. During their stay at the Azuero Earth Project, volunteers will have access to resources that will help learn about the botany of Azuero, so this opportunity is perfect for people interested in learning the ways of the land and native species of the region.  Volunteers will interact with community members by participating in the Azuero Earth Project’s weekly youth activities and others, through visiting farms throughout the area, and if interested, through engaging through arts and infrastructure projects in local towns.

*If you are interested, supplemental Spanish lessons can be arranged with the local Spanish language school in town.
