In the morning, you will drive west along the famous Pan-American Highway into Panama’s “interior” as the locals call it. Enjoy the views of Panama’s landscape and stop along the way to taste local Panamanian food. After an approximate 2.0 hour drive you will reach the picturesque town of El Valle de Anton at 600 meters/1,968 feet above sea level nestled at a dormant volcanic crater. El Valle is known for its milder temperature, beautiful landscape surrounded by hills and creeks. Its numerous bird species including some endemic ones, making any birder easily spend a couple of nights in the area. El Valle has a variety of attractions such as Indigenous pre-Columbian petroglyphs, hot springs, canopy zip lines, waterfalls, butterfly gardens, rock climbing and hikes for all abilities (upon request). During the day, visit the picturesque town market where handcrafts are on sale.
