There are legendary mountains in many places. The Everest in Asia, the Aconcagua in the Andes, the Kilimanjaro in Africa. In Panama there is also a mythical summit, which is among the highest in Central America. It is Volcan Barú, a dormant volcano just south of the Continental Divide with a height of 11,398 feet above sea level that dominates the Central Mountain range and looks over the provinces of Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro. It is one of the only places in the world where, on a clear day, one can see both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea at the same time with the naked eye.
Join us to make the steep and rugged ascent by 4×4 jeep. It is a bumpy ride starting at approximately 4am lasting about 2 hours, but the jeep provides comfortable seats and closed windows, sheltering you from the cold. At the top, you can wait (drinking hot coffee or tea in the warm vehicle) until the sun makes its first appearance. If you are lucky, from the summit you may be able to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of both coastlines as you witness the sunrise from the highest point of Panama.
