You will transit the Miraflores Locks where your boat will ascend 54 feet in two distinct steps. Then enter Miraflores Lake and pass the Pedro Miguel Locks, where your boat will be raised the last 27 feet to get into the Gatun Lake. During your transit through the Gatun Lake you will pass the Smithsonian Research Station on the Barro Colorado Islands before you will pass the Gatun Locks to return to sea level at the Caribbean Sea.
San Blas Islands
The San Blas Archipelago forms a group of over 365 small tropical islands located in the Caribbean Sea near the coast of Panama. Only a small amount of the islands are inhabited by the Guna indigenous people, who have been resisting changes to their culture since the Spanish arrived over 500 years ago. Seize the opportunity to visit the Guna villages to learn about this fascinating culture. Spend your days island hopping, experiencing the unique culture of the Guna people, snorkel in the colorful coral reefs and gain deep relaxation admiring the beauty of this place.
