Punta Caracol is built in the traditional way of the Bocas del Toro Islands: The individual cabins rest on stilts above the water and are covered with palm leaf roofs. The all-natural building materials were all locally sourced, and give the visitor a unique feeling of living in harmony with nature. Nonetheless, natural should not be confused with basic here: all cabins are equipped with hot water and colonial-style beds.
The lodge’s energy and waste management are designed for minimum impact: Solar panels, gas cooling systems for refrigerators and the bio-digester that sanitizes waste water help keep the unique ecosystem in which the lodge is located a healthy one.
Each of the two-story cabins have a private balcony from which you can look out over the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Each cabin has a master bedroom equipped with king-size bed and two individual beds in the lower-floor bedroom. For more space, choose the master suite. Complimentary snorkeling kits and beach towels are included for all suites.
In the evening, head along the main dock over to the restaurant, where a variety of Mediterranean and Panamanian dishes awaits you. The unbelievably fresh seafood and organic Panamanian fruit and vegetables make it the easiest thing in the world to convert to the lodge’s food philosophy: “Fresh, light and healthy”. To accompany your meal, enjoy the excellent choice of wines or try one of the specialty cocktails on offer.
